About this book :-
Some Applications of Functional Analysis in Mathematical Physics (3E) written by
S. L. Sobolev .
This book presents the theory of functions spaces, now known as Sobolev spaces, which are widely used in the theory of partial differential equations, mathematical physics, and numerous applications. The author also treats the variational method of solution of boundary value problems for elliptic equations, including those with boundary conditions given on manifolds of different dimensions. In addition, the theory of the Cauchy problem for second-order hyperbolic equations with variable coefficients is studied. The book is intended for researchers in mathematics and mathematical physics and would be useful to undergraduate and graduate students taking advanced courses in these areas.

About Author :-
The author Prof Sergei Lvovich Sobolev (1908 – 1989) was a Russian mathematician. His area of work was mathematical analysis, fourier transform and partial differential equations.
Their embedding theorems are an important subject in functional analysis. Generalized functions (later known as distributions) were also first introduced by Sobolev in 1935 for weak solutions, and further developed by Laurent Schwartz. Sobolev abstracted the classical notion of differentiation, so expanding the range of application of the technique of Newton and Leibniz. The theory of distributions is considered now as the calculus of the modern epoch.
