Long addition mean addition of a lot of numbers. When you have a lot of number for addition then try to arrange the number for addition. Try to made tens, hundreds, thousand, ...
Let us see the following examples.
4 + 3 + 2 + 7 + 9 + 11 + 8
That can be rearranged as
= (3 + 7) + (9 + 11) + (2 + 8) + 5
= 10 + 20 + 10 + 5
= 45
The above example may also written as
In such case add the numbers as following
15 + 26 + 34 + 45 + 19 + 22 + 48
= (15 + 45) + (26 + 34) + 19 + (22 + 48)
= 60 + 60 + 19 + 70
= 209
